From Maureen, Weekend Child Life Specialist:
“The family of a four-year-old boy was understandably upset watching their child undergo an emergency procedure. I provided support to his parents and friends, escorting them to a private room to wait.
In our conversation, the dad mentioned he loves dogs, so I brought my service dog Buddy to visit the family. The dad spontaneously hugged Buddy and nestled his cheek in Buddy’s fur, a visual indication that dad was finding comfort in Buddy’s presence. He went on to whisper to the dog, “Don’t worry, my son is strong! He will be just fine.”
I’m glad Buddy and I were there to be a comfort to this family!”
