Lots of lovely workshops to choose from!

We have 16 workshops to choose from. All guests will be able to select 4 workshops to attend. Here are just a few to choose from. The full list is here.

Dyeing Yarn and Fibre - The Not so Natural Way

Jennifer Goodwin, a local Canberra based indie dyer from Jen’s Goodies, will take you step by step through the acid dyeing techniques on protein fibres. Learn about colour theory, as you apply colours to alpaca yarn and fibre, creating mini works of yarn art! This workshop will give the skills to dye yarn at home, creating masterpieces.

Knitting Circular Yokes

Circular yokes are the perfect simple seamless garment, but are often over-shadowed by their more popular cousin, the raglan yoke. In this class, we will explore the beauty and possibilities imminent in a circular yoke as together we knit a wee baby sized cardigan. In this class we will explore:
  • different methods for yoke increasing and their effects
  • adapting circular yokes for different stitch patterns
  • how to get perfect underarm joins
  • options for knitting small circumferences in the round

Eco Art - Landscapes for your Home

In this class, lead by Zetta an award winning Melbourne based fibre artist, students get to experience many kinds of raw fleeces, wool, silk and alpaca to create woven and felted landscape. This is an introductory workshop of Zetta’s weaving and felting techniques. Explore Eco Art for the home, how to make it and why should we have it.

Crochet Brioche - Briochet

Crochet Brioche, or ‘Briochet’ is a fun technique that is perfect for contrasting your favourite colours. Just like its knitted cousin, crochet brioche creates a double layer fabric that is both practical and beautiful.
  • In this class you will learn how to work the crochet brioche stitch and create a fabulous and fun cowl for the colder months.
  • Join Deanne, from Addydae Designs, in this workshop where you will learn the brioche stitch to create your own cowl masterpiece!

Knitting - Fearless Fixing

Sick of having to rip out your needles when you make a mistake? Does the idea of dropping back to fix a mistake five rows below fill you with terror? This class will have you fearlessly tackling your knitting foe as you learn to fix your knitting mistakes quickly and efficiently – without ripping. Join Georgie, from Tikki Knits, and:
  • explore how to read your knitting
  • identify different stitches such as increases and decreases in knitted fabric
  • learn how to fix small mistakes instead of frogging

Note: Once you have booked your ticket we will email you a catering form to complete. Special meal options will be provided for those with food allergies. Please be specific when listing your food allergies.

Note: We are serving alpaca at the retreat sourced from a commercial alpaca farm, not from our alpacas or our farm. Commercially farmed alpaca is just like commercially farmed beef, lamb or pork. We understand the feelings around alpaca meat however we feel to have a commercially viable industry we need to focus on all aspects of alpaca as livestock. We will have other meal options available for those not wishing to try alpaca.

A few surprises....

If the retreat inclusions are not enough then wait for it. We are keeping a few secrets. More about these later....but what I can say now is that one of the surprises is very special and one person coming to the retreat will be given one very special gift!
