Next up: Horseshoe Valley Canada Cup, ClimbDuro and Canadian Nationals
The Entire Team will be heading East to the Canadian National championships at Hardwood Hills just outside Barrie Ontario next week.  They will be lining up alongside the best in Canada for a chance at the National Championship title on Saturday July 20th. Hardwood is one of the longest standing venues on the Canadian circuit and will produce tight and exciting races.

Emily Unterberger is back to racing

The team is really excited to have Emily Unterberger back for her first mtb event since sustaining a concussion in May at the second Canada Cup. Emily U’s training has been going well and she will get to put her fitness to the test this weekend at Climbduro in Bragg Creek, Alberta.  The ClimbDuro is an endurance event with two timed climbs.  The event crosses several different surface types and athletes can choose to race a road, cross or mountain bike. Emily is looking forward to testing out the new race format and her fitness before Nationals.
Horseshoe Canada Cup

Holden Jones will also be racing this weekend.  He has travelled to Ontario early to line up at the Horseshoe Canada Cup near Hardwood Hills.  This race will be an excellent opportunity for Holden to gain more points and elite race experience.  He is currently sitting in 2nd overall in the series, 11 points behind the lead.

Race Recap: June
The team had a successful June with the Canada Cup series returning to the West coast.  On June 24th we lined up in Whistler, BC for Canada Cup #5.
Elyse rode to a podium finish in 5th behind team mentor Catharine Pendrel and World Cup racers Sandra Walter and Savillia Blunk. Roxanne Vermette was 4th. Elyse is now sitting 2nd overall in the Canada Cup Series.

Holden's strong ride in Whistler earned him his 3rd straight 6th place finish this season.  He then travelled to Canmore, AB the following week where he embraced a more aggressive starting pace and was rewarded with a 3rd place finish for his efforts and a jump forward in the series overall.

Emilly Johnston took her 3rdJunior win in Whistler. This made it three wins for three starts in the Canada Cup series in her first year as a junior.

In search of new and different challenges she decided to skip the Canmore Canada Cup in favour of joining BC based Tag cycling for the Canadian Road Nationals.  She turned some heads in the road community riding to 3rdin the time trial and 4thin the road race after being in a break most of the day.

About our Pendrel Racing kit

Our Race kit is part of the Louis Garneau custom collection.  Our design was a collaboration between Catharine and her manager at Clif Dave McLaughlin. Catharine wanted something that linked our team with Team Canada; the classic blue and the maple leaf. Her goal was both to inspire the athletes to dream big and align our missions of helping athletes reach for the highest level of performance they can attain.

This was the 3rd custom jersey Catharine has worked with team Sponsor Garneau to create.  It's an easy process and we are loving the results!  If you are interested in creating your own custom look, check out Garneau's Free Custom service

Big thanks to DMACDESIGN and GARNEAU for making these beautiful kits happen.
