Message from the Mayor

I was delighted to be able to present prizes in person at the Ware 10s Ware Festival of Running last Sunday.  Owing to restrictions, entries to the 10K and 10 mile races were restricted, however, additional runners were still able to get involved by taking part in a ‘virtual’ race.   I truly commend Ware 10s for producing a safe, successful and enjoyable event.  The “virtual” option allowed me to complete the 10 mile course this week in aid of my Mayoral charity, Guideposts Trust.  Details are here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/ware-10k-race-raising-funds-for-guideposts-trust?qid=264ae0bd61b0e9f13dbe5da74a99b8d9

I am looking forward to visiting Presdales School next Wednesday to see the new floodlights which have been installed on the netball/tennis courts which Ware Town Council helped to fund.  This will benefit the students at Presdales School as well as the wider community who are able to hire the area.

We are fortunate to have had some excellent events in the town in recent weeks such as Ware Food Festival, Ware Festival of Running, Ware Priory summer concerts and Southern Maltings Arts & Crafts Fair.  A tremendous feat under current circumstances!  Still to come we have Music & Motors, Rock in the Priory Live & Late and the Riverside Real Ale Festival to name but a few.

It now appears that the remaining restrictions will be lifted on July 19th.  At that time we will reopen the Priory to the public.  The office will be open 10am-3pm Monday – Friday, however, if you wish to meet with a particular officer you will need to first make an appointment.  You can do so by calling 01920 460316.

In the meantime, continue to stay safe and if there is anything you would like to bring to my attention please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Cllr Ian Kemp
Town Mayor

Skatepark Fundraiser

Our super Skate Park Group decided to hold a one off drive through fundraiser for the new Skate Park Project on 29th June, selling tea, coffee, rolls & cakes down at the Youth centre in Marsh Lane.  Despite the weather and the England game our community turned out to support them and they raised £150 for the pot - didn't they do well!

They've lots more ideas up their sleeve and have set up a GoFundMe account for donations.  See the link here:

Rock in the Priory Live & Late – September 4th Drill Hall Ware

We have news that will be music to your ears! The pandemic meant that Rock in the Priory in 2020 and 2021 couldn’t go ahead as planned. But the crew have come together to bring you a remixed version of the festival with ‘Rock in the Priory Live & Late’ to be held on September 4th at the Drill Hall in Ware.

There will be the same great atmosphere, energy and excitement as usual, just a different format and location. Fans of live music will get to enjoy six bands and two acoustic acts.

Tickets for the event will be limited and all sales will be online.

Check back next week for the line-up and more details including how to get your hands on the hottest ticket in town!
We have spaces left in our Crash courses, running in the school holidays.  There is space for all abilities in Course 1 and for intermediate & advanced swimmers in courses 2 & 3.  Please contact Meg at the Lido on 01920 481563 or email lido@warepriory.co.uk
