Hi, my lovelies!

This will be the last time I write you in 2020. As we say good-bye, good riddance, or f*** off to 2020, I'm looking forward to a little time and distance from the last 12 months. Maybe by stepping back, I can cast a softer light on my year in review. I'm going to try to forget the times I lay crying in my bed, and remember the closeness that I feel with my husband and children after spending so much time together at home. I'll forget the fact that stress-eating has made my pants a little (okay, a lot) tighter, and remember all the joyful home-cooked meals our family prepared together. Let's forget the fear and remember the hope. In the end, 2020 brought us to our knees a few times, but it did not break us.

Finally, I'm thankful for you. I've been so lucky to feel a connection with people all over the world through this newsletter! It's not only so kind that you allow me into your inboxes, but also that many of you often click "reply" and respond with lovely stories and sentiments. There are a lot of us out there striving for a simpler, better way to live. It means the world to me to hear from you and feel a little less alone in this complicated world.

See you in 2021!

xoxo,
Carol

Ben Home for ChristmatEar Candy for You

Listen to I'll Ben Home for Christmat, a newly released mini-album, recorded and performed by my 19 year-old son Ben. He's been a prolific musician and songwriter from a very early age. He and his equally talented friend Mat did all the recordings in their living room during the pandemic! You can listen to it on Bandcamp or on Apple Music. It's been on repeat in my house and in my car, and I really hope you love it as much as I do. May it bring you a bit of peace and comfort at Christmastime.

I could watch this again and again. I suspect this SNL sketch, "Christmas Morning" with Kristin Wiig will become an instant classic.
Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter, "The Cozy Cottage Chronicles." I hope that over time I can send you love letters that reflect the incredible journey our family has experienced by downsizing to a much smaller house, the Cozy Cottage. Every day, I'm still looking to simplify our lives, reduce stress, eliminate debt, and leave space in our lives to enjoy the little things. I'd love to hear from you! Just hit "reply" and send me a note!
