Rodeo Burgers ARE BACK!

We had a cracker at the Muster Rodeo on Saturday night, with a great many volunteers, both Rotarians and friends of Rotarians.  With the limited crowd of 2000 attendees and tickets in hot demand around town, we knew we would be in for a big cook up!
With many of the usual organisers of the back end stuff out of town and unable to get us all set up and underway, a few of us relative newbies hobbled together the equipment and got the stand all set up and ready for our vollies and our hungry Rodeo mob!  Tik happy to report she successfully reversed the BBQ trailer with the guidance of Peta with no expletives needed!
All Muster events were cashless this year, and our burger stand was no different - though it was giving Tik some anxiety over technology, we had the float on hand should it have been dire enough for her to throw in the technology towel ... HOWEVER we managed to see out the whole event as cashless!  We're so very happy that Telstra kept up their end of the deal, and we were even able to offer a little bit of tech support to the Subway crew when their Square wasn't playing nicely and we were all off and selling!
We managed to sell in excess of 400 burgers, 200 hotdogs and almost 400 buckets of hot chips!!  There was only Subway and one other van selling a limited array of other hot food there, so we are pretty happy with our results!  Taking almost $8,000 via our Square, which means a profit of about $5,000, which is nice to top up the fundraising accounts for the club after our COVID year!   Chris will share the full details once all the invoices are in and paid!

A massive thank you must go to our friends of Rotary, who included Jinny's workmates from Lake Argyle who swapped the LA kitchen and grounds for our burger stand for a few hours, Peta McAuliffe who was with us from Go to WHOA, Rayleigh and Mariana who both offered their expertise in hotdogs and at the point of sale and Simon and his offsider Scott who manned the chip fryers until there were no more chips to be fried!
It was such a great feeling to have been back serving the community our delicious burgers! As you can see from the smiles on our faces!

We have had some great feedback (on top of the usual about our delicious burgers) about how efficient we were on the night, with the line up for our burgers, chips and hotdogs lining the top of the hill for almost 2 hours, people were happy with their relatively short wait times for their long awaited Rotary Burgers!

No Meeting on 7th

Remember next Monday is the WA Day Public Holiday, so there's no meeting again.  Hopefully everyone has had enough time to recover from the Muster Week and we're all firing and ready for more Rotary on the 14th June!  If you have someone who would make a great Guest Speaker, please introduce them to Tik via email using the address!

Rotary Shirts

We have a box full of either the royal blue Rotary Club of Kununurra polos or some of the chambray button up shirts in larger sizes that will come along to the next meeting with us if you're after a new Rotary Shirt - for those who are needing smaller sizes, please let us know and we will sort out a shirt for you!  :)
How good did it look at the Rodeo with all the bright blue shirts on our volunteers?!

Containers for Change

We’re now registered for containers for change … what does that mean? It means that if you have bottles, cans or plastic containers with the 10c refund mark on them - you can collect them and take them to the depot out on Ivanhoe Road and choose to donate your refunds to our Club!

But how do you tell them that you want to donate your refunds to Rotary Kununurra?  You can use the number below when you are at the Depot on Ivanhoe Rd, if you're somewhere else, you might like to save the QR code and show it at the return depot if they have a scanner (the number will work just as well)!

Tech Talk

This Friday is our next Tech Talk at the Library, please feel free to come on down to the Library or if you have visitors to town who're struggling with their technology, or have something great about technology to share, send them on down!  It's open to all!  :) We will be there from 10am!
