Celebrating and Honoring Our American Freedoms on Constitution Day

In 2004, Congress passed legislation establishing Constitution and Citizenship Day to be celebrated annually on September 17. This federal observance commemorates the ratification of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787.

Today marks the 234th anniversary of the historic event. Today we celebrate and honor this important milestone in our country's history and its claiming of our basic freedoms.
