COVID-19 Immigration update effective from 14th September 2020.

Please note the following latest Immigration updates effective from 14th Sep 2020:
  
a. Individuals who are in New Zealand and are genuinely unable to depart as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic may be granted a visitor visa.
 
b. Applications lodged under these instructions must be made online using the electronic form provided on the Immigration website.

Border Exception for Critical workers.

Border exceptions for ‘critical health worker’ and ‘other critical worker has been put in place effectively on and after 11 September 2020.

‘Critical health workers’ are agreed to by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.

‘Other critical worker’ can come into New Zealand to work on a request made by the employer’s basis of them falling under the category of ‘other critical workers.’

Other critical workers can work for short term (6 months) or long term.

Immigration Update: Visitor Visa Extended

The New Zealand Immigration has automatically extending current onshore visitor visas that are due to expire between 4 September and the end of October 2020 by five months.

Some visitor visa categories will not be extended such as;
1. Critical purpose visa holders,
2. Guardians of students, and
3. Partners or dependents linked to a work visa holder whose visa was extended previously.

Immigration New Zealand will contact all those eligible for the extension by mid-September.

KiwiSaver - Information for First home buyers

There are growing number of Kiwis now relying on Kiwisaver as their money-saving mechanism. KiwiSaver members find that this saving system is beneficial because:
  • The Government contributes 50 cents for every dollar you save;
  • It is a compulsory contribution from your employer;
  • It is flexible and accompanies your changing situation;
  • And the main reason is, that it helps you buy your first home.
KiwiSaver forces you to contribute money which you can later withdraw only once.

Congratulations to Gagandeep Chawla for getting Essential Skills Visa approved for 3 years!
Gagandeep is our second time client. He first came to Legal Associates couple of years ago and got his Employer Assisted Work Visa approved for 2 years. Now we have helped him get his Essential Skills Visa for 3 years as a Travel Consultant within 2 weeks.
