Would you be interested in joining the school governing body?

The governors at Ralph Allen School are seeking four parent governors to join their lively, friendly team, following recent retirements after long service.
There is no particular qualification needed, just enthusiasm about education, a commitment to working as part of the team and a desire to support the school. We are hoping through recruitment to add to our existing range of knowledge and experience and parent governors play a crucial role in bringing their particular perspective of the school and increasing our links with the local community.
Governors are volunteers but are able to claim reasonable expenses in order to carry out their duties.
Candidates must be parents of children currently on roll at Ralph Allen School.

Full details of the role can be found here on our website.

We are recruiting for Exam Invigilators

We are looking to expand our team of Invigilators to support students sitting external GCSE and A level examinations between 16 May – 24 June (excluding half term w/c 30 May). Working hours are flexible depending on the exam timetable, but you should be available to work on core GCSE days over this period (English, maths and science). Start times for morning sessions are 8.30 am and 1 pm for afternoon sessions.

There are many rules and regulations surrounding the examinations process to maintain fairness, security, and the integrity of the qualifications. Full training will be given to cover these areas and how you can contribute to supporting our students by giving them the best possible positive exam experience.

The full job advert can be found here on our website.

My Fair Lady Flowers

A couple of parents have very kindly started to make paper flowers to transform our school hall into a market place, THANK YOU. We need hundreds, so if you are able to contribute in any way … make a bunch of paper flowers / donate some false flowers etc, we would be most grateful.

Many hands make light work!

They can be dropped off at main reception for Claire O’Leary, or brought direct to me via your child!

Thank You

Table Tennis Team news

Congratulations to the Boys Table Tennis teams, winners of the 2021 Bath Schools Table Tennis Competition!
Ralph Allen entered 3 teams into this year’s event which included teams from St Mark’s and St Gregory’s schools.
The RAS A team of Toby, Mido, Fred and George were impressively undefeated in the A team competition, winning all of their singles and doubles matches versus the St Mark’s and St Gregory’s teams, and therefore taking the title for this year.
In the B/C’s competition, the RAS B team of Senan, Freddie, Milo and Jacob were also successful, winning the majority of their games and finishing 1st overall, closely followed by the RAS C team of Mo, JJ, Matthew and Oli who came 2nd overall.
Some excellent play, teamwork and good sportsmanship shown by all.
Table Tennis Clubs have been superbly attended so far this year, with over 70 students attending the first session in September! This enthusiasm saw 30+ students attend and compete in a competition at Table Tennis Club to select the players for the school teams.
Outdoor table tennis during break and lunch times is also proving popular, especially with our Year 7 students.

An update from the Senior Students

Since September, the Sixth Form council has been busy focusing on fundraising for the school’s chosen charities. In November, the whole Sixth Form got involved by wearing pyjamas to school in support of Children in Need. This event raised an incredible £650! Additionally, our Christmas Sixth Form Revue raised over £280 for Julian House, providing much needed support for homeless people in the local community.
Having restarted after Covid restrictions, the student council continues to make a significant impact in all areas of the school. From helping review campus plans, to setting up mental health initiatives, students have the opportunity to share their views and make meaningful change. Students from all years are involved in the four committees: Wellbeing, Campus, Environment, and Fundraising. This term, we are looking for engaging speakers who are willing to come in and talk about a school related issue/project they are involved with, and get the council thinking about new ideas and perspectives.  If you are interested in helping out, please contact us below!

Parent Circle Walk - Wednesday 19 January 2022

Join our first-ever Parent Circle Walk next Wednesday morning 19 January 8.40 -10am.
This year we have decided to experiment a bit with how we meet up and instead of only meeting in the evenings each term we thought we'd try a couple of morning walks.
We thought this might give different parents an opportunity to come and meet up.
All RAS parents and carers are welcome to join any of our meetings, you don't need to have come before or commit to coming again!
We will meet in the Sulis Car park at 8.40 am and then cross the road for a short circular walk around the top of the Bath Skyline Walk.
We'll walk for about 1 hour. Wrap up and wear footwear suitable for walking in muddy fields!
This will be a lovely opportunity to connect with some Ralph Allen parents and carers.
It'll be very relaxed and a chance to get some exercise before you start your day.
Please sign up here so we have an idea of how many parents are coming along and so we can let you know if anything changes due to weather etc.

Just in case you don't know what Parent Circle is... it is a termly chance for RAS parents to connect with other RAS parents and it is run by RAS parents.
We are volunteers, if you are interested in being involved in helping us run these sessions do get in touch via

Looking forward to walking with you on Wednesday.

From the Parent Circle team
Niki, Michelle, Lucinda, Sharon, Jamie, Isabel
