A message from the Headteacher
Dear Parents/Carers
It is great to have all year groups back in school today. Welcome back to the year 12s. This ends a busy week with year 11s finishing their mocks. The students have worked so hard towards these and have conducted themselves terrifically during the week. This is an excellent learning curve when students find out about themselves and the best forms of revision that work for them in preparation for next summer.
Lockdown does finish next week, and this will allow more afterschool clubs to take place the following week. This will be communicated next week.
Three weeks to go and this will go very quickly. I hope that you are all safe and well and looking forward to the reduction in restrictions.

Poetry Slam 2020
The incredible performance poet Michael Rosen battled Covid-19 earlier this year and we have taken inspiration from his fight to make sure that the world famous Ralph Allen Poetry Slam goes ahead. In normal years we would gather in the hall as a year group to listen to the amazing individual and group poems - this year we've gone virtual!
Each Year 7 class have had an individual and group slam in class. The winners then went up against other classes via the magic of Zoom in order to decide which poets would clinch victory. The array of topics as always was phenomenal, unsurprisingly Covid and lockdown featured heavily, but we also experienced poems about friendship and food fights.
Well done to all of Year 7 on another stirling effort!

Dear parents and carers
As you may know, the government have decided to fund vouchers for students eligible for free school meals over the Christmas break. Unlike during lockdown, this time, they have tasked local authorities with distributing the vouchers, rather than individual schools.
B&NES will be using a voucher provider similar to the system used in the summer. Their chosen provider has not yet been finalised. However, it will not be Edenred.
B&NES would like us to provide them with email addresses for parents of eligible students to enable them to send you the vouchers. We will give them the email address we hold for the priority 1 parent on our school database.
If you foresee any problem with accessing your vouchers this way, please let me know by Tuesday 1 December. We have asked B&NES if it will be possible to print off vouchers for those parents unable to access online vouchers (as we did in school in lockdown and over the summer) and we are waiting for them to respond. Similarly, we do not yet have any dates of when the vouchers will be sent out.
If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Regards
MRoberts

E-Safety Presentation
Following the very successful virtual Parent Circle meeting on Tuesday evening, it was requested that we made the E-Safety presentation that Mr Thompson delivered for us available. Please click here to view it. Thank you again to Paul for offering to provide this information to the school.

Reporting a positive Covid case to the school
If your child has tested positive for covid-19 please inform the school immediately by phoning the main school number 01225 832936 during school hours between 8am and 4pm. You will be transferred to the relevant member of staff. After 4pm please call 07923 986146.
To avoid unnecessary panic, we would very much appreciate it if you could do this BEFORE you or your child inform their friends or other parents.
All advice and reporting information can now be found here on our website.

Picking up students at the end of the day
We have received another call from Combe Grove Manor to ask our parents NOT to wait in the entrance to the hotel when picking up from school. It causes a huge amount of disruption. We would really appreciate it if you refrained from doing this as we do not want to ruin what is currently a very positive relationship with our neighbours.
Many thanks for your cooperation.
