December 2020:
Megan McNaughton
Tech Access Coordinator for the Kansas City Public Library
What Do You Do and Who Do You Serve?
I connect patrons with volunteers who have knowledge about the tech issues they encounter, so that the patrons can learn something new or important about their devices. For patrons who are curious about the digital world, our volunteers provide details about how they can best utilize their devices and become more confident using devices on a day-to-day basis. I am also part of the 20-21 Digital Inclusion Fellowship hosted by NTEN and Google Fiber - the project I have put together is focused on providing aging adults with courses and materials to promote digital literacy.
Any Accomplishments You'd Like to Share?
Since October, we have held both in-person and virtual introductory Zoom courses for more than 45 adults in a volunteer program who can now use Zoom to continue their volunteering! We would love to have more volunteers join the team in 2021, so if you or your networks are interested, please reach out to me at meganmcnaughton@kclibrary.org!
