We are going to another favorite this Thursday, January 24th… Sebastian Municipal (X26). It is located near the Atlantic Ocean and the Intra Coastal Waterway… so flights from the north or south can be beautiful. I’ve been in contact with Sarah at Pilot’s Paradise. They operate the FBO and a busy flight school at X26. Sarah says they will maximize available parking by locating their aircraft out of the way and providing some parking assistance. That said… parking is at a bit of a premium for our numbers. Please! If your aircraft is capable of being parked in grass or tucked into an out of the way place… try to get small, and leave main parking for the bigger singles and twins. It is interesting to note that the attached Google Earth satellite photo of X26 was taken during our visit last year. Those are Old Fart aircraft scattered around the ramp.
We will be dining at the Pelican Diner, located at the adjacent municipal golf course. They are open from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. We should again try to spread out our arrivals from breakfast through lunch. The food is varied and excellent!!! It is about a half mile walk from the Terminal building to the Diner. Please!!! Do NOT cut across the golf course! Stick to the perimeter road, indicated with a yellow line in my marked up image of the airport. Terese and I will be driving to this one in our Suburban. Terese will be acting as chauffeur… to and from the airport and diner. We will be there by 8:30… or so, and stay on hand throughout the day. If any others live in the area, have a vehicle able to seat a few Old Farts and care to volunteer… please shoot me an email.
Be aware that there is active flight training and a skydiving operation based at Sebastian Municipal. Be sure to monitor the CTAF of 123.05. Be alert and courteous to these operators. AWOS is listed at 118.125. Fuel is available and listed at $5.40 per gallon.
I am looking at the Weather for Thursday. It is not looking great right now… showers around, windy but good ceilings and visibility. I will continue to monitor, and send out an update on Wednesday.
That’s about it for this post… Keep the Shiny Side Up and we hope to see you Thursday!
