Sofia Torchia is a South Australian based performer who plays acoustic guitar and sings tunes from the 60s all the way to today's chart-topping singles. Blending well-known songs from pop (Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Coldplay, ...), rock (The Black Keys, Alice Cooper, The Beatles ...) and r&b (Prince, TLC, Alicia Keys, ...) to create new and fresh sounding arrangements on guitar and accompanied by soulful leaning vocals. Over the past two years, Sofia has performed in pubs, hotels and other venues around Adelaide as well as working on original music.

Other music endeavours include working as a content creator and ad producer at community radio Radio Italia Uno, teaching songwriting to adults, working as an audio and light technician and collaborating with other artists on projects that include writing and producing pop music.

ARTIST BIO
Sofia Torchia was raised in a medieval town in Tuscany with less than ten thousand people. At the age of 17 she picked up her first guitar and, inspired by the cultural adjustments and struggles moving halfway across the world to Adelaide, she began writing Beatle-esque pop songs. With a background of an Honors Degree in music, Sofia’s songwriting has emerged through arranging layered and intricate instrumentations. Her self-produced compositions balance electronica with r&b vocal inflections and rhythms.

OUT NOW: SOFIA TORCHIA’S SINGLE SHUT YOUR MOUTH
Listen to Shut Your Mouth here
In May 2018 she released her first single. Shut Your Mouth hints at a wistful desire to return to the Prince era reverb. Its quintessentially pop sound with big drumbeats and a catchy melody is the result of a songwriting collaboration between Sofia Torchia and fellow Adelaide based producer/songwriter Mario Späte. The lyrics ‘do you remember how it used to feel’ saturate the song with nostalgia, as Shut Your Mouth revels in the growing confidence of someone who doesn’t need to be saved by a flickering relationship to be ok.
