Center on the Family Presents Aging Mastery Program

The Center On The Family Aging and Intergenerational Resources’ objective is to improve the quality of life for older adults through providing comprehensive education and training, information and referral services.  The goal is to mobilize the efforts of the campus and the community in identifying and linking existing resources to form a comprehensive, intergenerational community-based delivery system for an aging society, with a special focus on empowering family caregivers and older adults through education, relevant and current information services. Throughout the past decade, the dramatic increase in the number of older adults has introduced significant challenges to a broad range of community resources. This condition is exacerbated by the increasingly complex needs of aging minority populations.
The TSU Aging and Intergenerational Resources Program is honored to have the opportunity to present the Aging Mastery Program, an evidence-based intervention project for older adults 60 years of age and older. The Aging Mastery Program (AMP) is a fun and engaging education and behavior change incentive program for aging well. In this program, classes are designed to give older adults the proper skills and tools to manage health, remain financially secure and contribute actively in society.
The 10-class program covers 10 topics. The classroom experience is a mix of educational and interactive learning with an emphasis on peer-to-peer interaction. Individuals set their own goals and create their own pathways to these goals.
The AMP program will be held on the campus of Texas Southern University Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00-11:30 a.m. for five weeks.
AMP classes will begin the second session on Tuesday February 25, 2020.
