WssTP Awards Winners 2018 Announced!

 
In the context of Water Innovation Europe 2018 conference “The road towards a Water-Smart Society: Overcoming the Water challenges of the future”, the WssTP Water Innovation Awards 2018 ceremony was held on the 13th of June.
For the 2018 edition of WssTP Water Innovation Awards, we had many strong applications submitted. The winners of this edition have been identified for their excellence and high market potential of their innovations in their field of application.

The five WssTP Water Innovation Awards Winners are:
  • SMEs Award: Altered: Nozzle 
  • Water technology & infrastructure prize: TECHNI
  • Digital Water Prize: SmartH20 
  • Water Governance Prize: CONCERT’EAU 
  • Global Water Challenges Prize: HSBC Water Programme
In addition to the Award itself, a marketing and communication support package will be offered from WssTP to promote the winners’ innovative products.

SME Prize

The Altered:Nozzle is a Swedish innovation company that provides low effort-high impact solutions for your everyday habits. Their super simple installation and retro-fit solutions products have been awarded for their high potential in reducing the water use and saving clean water. Water Technology and Infrastructure Award
 
In 2017, TECHNI fulfilled the development of the world's first robotic digless branch pipe connection system. The technology saves the environment, redefines how to establish and refurbish rural water systems and saves around 40 % cost. The technology is three robots with each one having tools at their disposal. The digital controls of the drilling system and in-pipe robots cooperate in such a way that important infrastructure like landmarks, historic sights and old town center can have modernized water structure without damage to the precious sights, without disturbance to either traffic or the social surroundings of busy cities, all while the system is being digitally recorded. Digital Water Award
 
The SmartH20 platform is a data-driven demand management solution that enables utilities to include customers in the efficiency loop. The mission of the SmartH20 project includes and integrates the following set of tools and functionalities, which rely on high spatiotemporal resolution data gathered via intelligent water flow meters: data analytics for water demand profiling and end-use dissagregation, automated customer community segmentation, agent-based modelling, near real-time data visualization to customers and utility managers, customer engagement through real and digital games. SmartH20 brings together two emerging market drivers into an innovative solution : digitalization and social media revolution. To learn more, please click here.
 

Water Governance Award

Concert'eau is a Governance Digital Platform based on a purpose-built scenario-modelling tool that assess and illustrate the effects of scenarios (for example agri-environment scenarios). The platform works by  accepting all inputs of propositions of stakeholders about actions or measures linked to water management, assessing the propositions for their economic, environmental and social consequences, mapping and comparing all the propositions with an assessment matrix built with the stakeholders. This solution has been developed with the support of the European Commission project (LIFE06 ENV/F/000132). The innovation has been proved in France and Spain by allowing propositions from farmers of agricultural practices compatible with the preservation of drinking water resources and with their economic development. Global Water Challenges Award

To raise awareness around access and security of water supply in Malta, HSBC Bank Malta p.l.c launched a wide-ranging water conservation initiative, the HSBC Water Programme - Catch the drop in 2013. This programme is the largest ever national environmental and educational campaign of its kind in Malta and aims to forge a blueprint for progress on sustainability of water as a resource.
