Fishing Update - 18th June
Dear Members

For the past 8 years angling has been allowed and enjoyed by many residents and their families at Mount Edgecombe Country Club. Our Angling Club with its committee is there to protect our waterways and of course our fish, but most importantly to ensure your safety.  If you are a keen fisherman, it is important to become a member of the Angling Club so that you and your children understand the rules.

We understand that Lockdown has been a very trying time especially for children and we have seen an increase in the number of youngsters fishing. While we are delighted at this increased interest, many youngsters have been fishing in areas that are now dangerous to fish in with the return of golf. Also fishing line has been left in the water which is dangerous to our bird and wildlife.

It is therefore important that if you would like to fish you MUST join the Mount Edgecombe Country Club Angling Club. In order to do so, please contact Loshini Govender at the main clubhouse admin offices (031 539 5330). Loshini will assist you with your application and provide you with all the information you need to enjoy fishing on the estate within the rules.

The Angling rules are available on the Mount Edgecombe Country Club website. Please click here.  Then scroll down to the Angling section where you can find the downloadable constitution, rules and maps. We appeal to all residents to please assist us in keeping this very popular pastime enjoyable for all and not to spoil it by breaking the rules.

COVID 19 – changed fishing times and locations
Please note that whilst the Covid-19 based golf and exercise times are in operation, the current published winter fishing times will be suspended and replaced as follows:
Angling will be permitted at the same times and in the same areas of the golf courses as specified for exercising by MECC. Please see the table below. Should these times/locations be changed by Mount Edgecombe Country Club, the angling times/locations will change at the same time.

Masks must be work and social distancing requirements are to be strictly adhered to.

Tight lines
