Old Farts...
We are invited to Valkaria Airport (X59) on Thursday, February 3rd. Our hosts are Old Farts Christopher “Kongo” Niles and Frank “Shameless” Gallagher. Kongo has taken over the reins (I love it!) for food catering, parking and even some helpful charts for approaches into whatever the active runway will be.
I am getting this invite out early… because we need your RSVP back EARLY! The caterer is asking for our number of meals by NOON on Monday, January 31st. I realize we all like to track the weather before making a commitment, but this time you just have to pull the trigger! Please respond to Kongo’s link to reservations at the end of my text. Click on it and answer the questions as to name, tail number and how many lunches. There is also a question about whether you are okay to taxi into the grass, or prefer to park on the hard surface and be pushed back. Again, it is very important that you get this info back to Kongo by… NOON on Monday, January 31st!
The food sounds like it is going to be great! Kongo says chow will be served from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00. There will be coffee and a few donuts for early birds. Plan on pulled pork and BBQ chicken with sides of Mac & cheese, baked beans and potato salad. A variety of drinks will be included. Cost is $20 per person.
That’s about it… Valkaria is situated on the Atlantic Coast between Melbourne and Vero Beach. It is a very scenic flight for those approaching from the north or south.
ALSO!!! Please note the cancellation and date change for the Bushnell Pancake Breakfast. It was scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, January 29th. Due to high winds and cold temps, it has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 26. A revised flyer is attached below.
